Biography

Sydney Galindo is a first-generation Filipina American of Visayan and Indigenous descent whose curatorial practice engages decolonial praxis and artistic autonomy to examine how cultural narratives are formed within collective lived experience. Her work bridges curatorial and archival practices to build ethical, inclusive art ecosystems that foreground collaborative authorship and reimagine how contemporary art is produced and experienced.

She is the director and producer of Unseen Territories (2025), an award-winning documentary film and public art project developed on Southern Paiute land in Las Vegas that brings together BIPOC artists through performance, installation, and collective practice. The project was nominated for Best Nevada Film and the Spirit of Activism Award at the Nevada Women’s Film Festival (2026). It will be featured as part of the national Civic Season initiative at the Japanese American National Museum’s Democracy Center in summer 2026.

Her curatorial work includes Women’s Rights Are Human Rights: International Posters on Gender-Based Inequality, Violence, and Discrimination (2025), co-organized with Laura Solsona Plazaola at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art; Living in a Memory (2025), a solo exhibition with Rick R. Ledesma at the East Las Vegas Library; and Home Means Nevada (2025), a solo exhibition with Sarah Robles at Sahara West Library. Earlier projects include Son de Mi Ser (2024) at Grant Hall Gallery and Jones Ranch Egypt (Part One) (2024) at Available Space Art Projects.

Her writing has been published by the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art, including Balancing Empathy and Action in Curatorial Practice (2025) and A Space where Tradition and Contemporary Thought Collide (2024), as well as in The Mundane Zine, Issue 3 (2024).

Galindo is the founder of the Artist Resistance Through Solidarity (ARTS) Foundation, an initiative supporting BIPOC artists through microgrants, advocacy, and community-based programming. Her work has been featured in KNPR (2025), Couch in the Desert (2025), Rawfemme (2025), Double Scoop (2025, 2024), Latin Pop Magazine (2024), and Chic Compass (2024), among others.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of Nevada and a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from the University of Oklahoma.
